Battle of Apia Denkmal, Samoa

In 1888, an uprising broke out against German traders and immigrants, which was supported by the United States with arms deliveries. On December 18, 1888, the landing corps of the SMS Olga and the SM Kanonenboot Eber were engaged in heavy fighting near the port of Apia, in which two officers and 14 men were killed, and one officer and 38 men were wounded.
A memorial was erected by the by the Germans to commemorate the fallen of the Olga and Eber.
At the base of the memorial is the grave marker of Lieutenant Hans Sieger.
